v2.6.2: Nova Becomes Your Team Orchestrator, Delegating to the Right AI Employee by Voice

Two days ago Nova was a voice attached to a single employee. To ask your sales agent something, you opened your sales agent and talked to it. Useful, but it meant you had to know who to ask before you could ask. This release removes that step. Nova now lives at the dashboard level, sees your whole team, and hands each request to whoever should actually do it.

In other words, Nova stopped being an assistant you talk to and became a manager you delegate to.

Talk to the team, not an employee

There is a new Talk to Nova entry in the sidebar, sitting right above New Employee. Open it and you are not inside any single employee. You are talking to Nova at the level of your whole roster.

From up there, Nova can see the team the way a manager does. Every employee you can reach, with their role, their skills, and their current kanban load. So when you say "get the Q3 competitor brief drafted and line up five outreach emails," you do not have to route that yourself. Nova reads the request, looks at who does what, and picks the right people.

It delegates in parallel

This is the part that changes how it feels. For a single request, Nova can hand tasks to several teammates at once, choosing each one by role and skills. The brief goes to your researcher, the outreach goes to your sales agent, and they work at the same time.

Nova tells you who she handed each piece to, so there is no black box. Then, as each teammate finishes, she relays their result back to you the moment they report in, tagged with their name so you always know who did what. You made one request out loud and got a coordinated response from a team, without opening a single employee or copying anything between them.

It runs the boards too

Delegation is only half of managing. The other half is keeping track, so Nova can now work your kanban boards directly. She can list, create, move, and update cards on any teammate's board, and those changes show up live on the board and notify the employee, exactly as if you had dragged the card yourself.

That means you can run status and assignment by voice. "Move the onboarding doc to review and start a card for the July numbers on Cecile's board" is now a thing you say, not a thing you click through four screens to do. The board stays the single source of truth, and Nova is just another way to drive it.

Scoped to the team you actually have

Power like this only works if it respects boundaries, so Nova's reach is deliberately limited. She only ever orchestrates employees you can reach, the ones you own or that are shared with you because your email is in their authorized senders. Admins are scoped to their own team, never the whole instance.

This is the same principle we wrote about last week when we argued that every agent should be treated like a privileged identity with a narrow scope. An orchestrator that could touch anyone's employees would be exactly the kind of over-broad access that turns convenient into dangerous. Nova manages your team, and only your team.

All of this works in both text and speech-to-speech mode, so you can type your delegation or say it out loud and let Nova coordinate the rest.

Long conversations no longer drop

Real-time voice sessions have a built-in time limit, which used to mean a long orchestration session could just end on you. Now when a Gemini Live session hits its limit and drops, Nova shows a Resume button that picks the conversation right back up, replaying the prior transcript as context so nothing is lost. You keep going from where you were instead of starting over.

The fix that makes orchestration trustworthy

One bug in here deserves a spotlight, because it is the difference between a demo and something you rely on. Delegating to an idle or just-cleared employee used to fail silently. Spinning up a cold container takes anywhere from five to sixty seconds, and that freeze used to lock the live voice call. A just-cleared employee was worse: it got dropped entirely during its reconnection cooldown, and your task vanished with no error.

That is fixed, and fixed properly. Delegation is now fire-and-forget, so it never freezes the session. A just-cleared employee is force-respawned, and there is a background retry behind the whole thing. The task always lands, and the reply always comes back through the relay. An orchestrator you cannot trust to actually deliver the task is not an orchestrator, so this one had to be airtight.

That is v2.6.2. Nova went from a voice on one employee to the layer that runs your whole team: one request, delegated in parallel to the right people, boards kept in sync, all within the boundaries you set. It is the first real taste of managing a team of AI employees by just saying what you need.
