v2.6.3: Nova Starts Hiring Your Team Herself, and Picks Her Own Look
Up to now, Nova could route your voice to the right teammate, hold a real conversation, and orchestrate the employees you already had. This release hands her something bigger: the ability to notice when nobody on your team fits the job, and build the person who does.
Nova can hire your next teammate
Ask Nova for help with something your current team cannot cover, and instead of shrugging, she now designs a candidate. She invents the whole persona: a name, a gender, an age, an origin, a fitting job title, a communication style, and a real backstory. On top of that she writes an Expertise and Operating Guidelines block, the kind of specific, role-aware detail a generic template would never capture. Then she spins the employee up, ready to work.
The part we care about most is the manners. Nova does not interrogate you. She does not open a form and ask you to fill in twelve fields. She pre-fills the entire profile, presents the candidate to you in a single line, and waits. You approve, you tweak, or you say no. Nothing gets created behind your back.
The moment you say yes, the new teammate's card appears on your dashboard in real time, no refresh needed. And Nova does not just create them and walk away. She delegates to them straight away, so the person she just built is already part of the team you can reach.
This respects the guardrails you already have. Creation follows your permission model (can_create_employees, agent limits), the language follows whoever is speaking, and an avatar is generated automatically when a FAL key is configured. Autonomy, but inside the fence you set.
Nova picks her own look
Voice assistants have a habit of feeling like a disembodied utility. We wanted Nova to feel present, so she now has a face of sorts: a customizable voice orb.
Open Nova's settings and choose from a gallery of 22 orb animations. Fireflies, Aurora, Waveform, Nebula, Wireframe Globe, Ferrofluid, and plenty more. The choice is per user, so everyone on your account gets their own Nova, not a shared house style.
The orb is not decoration. It reacts to Nova's state, shifting between idle, listening to you, and speaking, and it pulses in real time with her actual voice while she talks. When she is quiet, it settles. When she is mid-sentence, you can see it. The default, if you never touch the setting, is Fireflies.
New employees pick the right engine on their own
Small change, real friction removed. When you create a new employee, they now auto-select their AI CLI by priority: Claude, then Codex, then your first custom LLM, then OpenCode. No more manual "which CLI?" prompt every time you hire someone fresh.
Claude only gets chosen when it is actually configured, so you will not end up with a teammate pointed at an engine you never set up. This applies to every creation path, whether you use the guided hire, the catalog, or Nova herself. SaaS mode is unchanged and still defaults to Geta.Team AI.
The fixes
Three things got quieter this release.
Nova's speaking indicator used to flicker off during the micro-pauses between words, because it was driven by a flag rather than her actual audio. It is now driven by her live audio stream with a short hold, so the orb stays in its speaking state through the whole sentence instead of stuttering.
The microphone now releases when you close Nova. A race condition plus a leaked stream could leave your browser mic light on after you closed her, which is exactly the kind of thing that makes people uneasy. The mic is now force-released on close.
And delegating to an idle or just-cleared employee no longer silently fails, a fix we carried forward from v2.6.2.
Where this is heading
There is a pattern in this release worth naming. Nova started as a voice you talk to. She is becoming a colleague who notices gaps, proposes solutions, and acts once you agree. Hiring a teammate by describing a problem out loud, then watching the right person appear on your dashboard, is a different way of building a team than clicking through a setup wizard. It is closer to how you would actually delegate to a chief of staff.
We are building toward the version of this where your AI employees do not just execute the work you hand them, but help you decide what the team should look like in the first place.
