v2.6.4: Nova Sees Your Whole Team at a Glance, and Restyles a Photo Without Losing the Face

Nova has spent the last few releases learning to talk, run on your own models, orchestrate your team by voice, and even hire teammates herself. v2.6.4 is about awareness. She now knows what your whole team is doing the moment you open her, she can restyle a teammate's photo without turning them into a stranger, and her voice panel got a cleanup. Underneath all that, we closed a batch of session errors and slow starts that had no business getting between you and your work.

Nova knows what the team is up to

Until now, if you wanted to know who was working on what, you had to go look. Nova would happily delegate a task, but she couldn't tell you the state of the room.

That changes here. From the second you open her, Nova has a live snapshot of every teammate: their current status, when they were last active, the last task they ran, and how it turned out. So you can just ask her the questions you'd ask a real team lead. "Who's working right now?" "Who worked today, and on what?" "What is my team doing?" She answers straight away, no delegation round-trip.

Two details matter here. Dates are read in your timezone, so "who worked today" means today where you are, not on some server clock. And the snapshot refreshes on demand mid-conversation, so if something finishes while you're talking to her, you can ask again and get the current picture.

Restyle a photo without losing the person

Nova can change how a teammate looks: new outfit, different hair, a fresh background, a whole new style. The trouble with the old behaviour was that "change the background" could quietly hand you back a different-looking person, because it generated from scratch every time.

Now the default is to edit the existing photo. Ask Nova to restyle a teammate and she works from their current image, so it stays recognisably them, just restyled. Same face, new look.

If you actually want a clean break, you can still get one. Say "change them completely" or "give them a brand-new photo" and Nova generates a fresh portrait from scratch, exactly as before. Either way, the previous photo is backed up automatically and the new one updates live, so there's no way to lose the original by accident.

A cleaner voice panel

The voice UI picked up three practical fixes that add up to more room and less guessing.

The big orb no longer eats the top of the panel. It now sits between the waveforms as a pure visual element, which hands the reclaimed space back to your teammate cards. The cards get a taller, nicer photo as a result.

The mute control is finally obvious. The microphone is now a clear button in the input bar, right next to Send, with a tooltip. Tap to mute or unmute. No more hunting for it.

And the talk-mode toggle, the "interrupt anytime" versus "one at a time" switch, moved next to the mic where it belongs. On mobile it collapses to just its icon so it never crowds the text field.

Sessions that open, and open fast

This is the part you won't see but will feel. A few reliability problems around opening sessions are now fixed.

The most annoying one was the "Connection refused: Database error" that could hit you when opening or relaunching a teammate's session. Two separate things were causing it. A freshly spun-up container could sometimes take longer to be ready than the wait window allowed, so the session gave up too early. And a stuck internal state could keep rejecting new sessions until the backend was restarted. Both are fixed. Sessions open reliably now.

Cold starts are faster too. Fresh teammate containers were re-downloading AI-CLI updates on every single boot, which is exactly the wrong moment to be pulling updates. They don't anymore, so opening a brand-new or just-cleared session is noticeably quicker.

And for desktop app users, live Busy and Idle status is back. The dashboard's real-time status channel now accepts the desktop app's login, so the app shows teammates going busy and idle in real time, matching what you already get on the web.

Chat rendering fixes

Two small irritations in the chat are gone. Streamed replies no longer "jump" at the end. A message being streamed and the same message once it's finished now render identically, so text stops shifting or reflowing the instant a reply completes.

And Markdown behaves. Bold text after a line break, and inline code sitting right before bold on the same line, now render properly instead of leaking raw asterisks or backticks into your chat.

Docs

The browser-automation skill is now fully documented. Every command is in the skill guide with syntax and examples, including get-dom, the WhatsApp helpers, console-logs, exec, compose-email, the on-page agent indicator, and the rest. If you've been driving a browser through your AI employee and guessing at the commands, you don't have to anymore.

That's v2.6.4. Nova gets situational awareness and a tidier face, photo edits stop stealing people's identities, and the plumbing that opens your sessions got a lot more dependable.
