v4.0.12: Your Employees Stop Sounding Like AI, Run Real Infrastructure, and Tell You When Google Cuts Them Off
The biggest change in v4.0.12 is one you will hear rather than see. Your employees stop sounding like AI.
Human mode
There is a new Human mode switch in Configure > Profile, per employee. Every employee created from this version on starts with it on, whether hired, taken from the catalog, cloned or imported. Employees that already exist stay as they are until someone flips the switch, so nothing changes under you.
With it on, the employee writes and speaks like a person on every channel. That means a natural tone, messages that match the length and register of whoever it is talking to, and the end of the phrases that give the game away: no "Great question", no "Feel free to...". It has opinions. It uses humour. It says "I'm on it" before starting anything long, then gives you a word at each real step rather than vanishing and returning with an essay. It remembers what you have told it about your life.
The part we are most pleased with is what happens in the chat window. Thinking and tool calls no longer unfold in front of you. They collapse into a single live line in plain words, with the time spent: "Alex is on the emails... 0:12", "Alex is reading files...". The details are one click away under "Show details", and the tool panel has stopped opening by itself.
It takes effect from the next message, or the next conversation for employees running on Claude Code or Codex. The wording is written again at every start, so when we improve it, every employee already in human mode gets the improvement without you doing anything.
When Google cuts you off, you now find out
A Gemini key without billing sits on Google's free tier, which carries a small daily quota. Until now, when that quota ran out, things simply stopped. Browser calls, phone calls, Nova's voice, meetings, the lot. No message, no explanation. People reasonably concluded Geta.Team was broken.
Now everything says so plainly:
- Browser calls and Nova's voice tell you the quota is used up and that it returns at Google's daily reset, midnight Pacific time, or as soon as billing is enabled on the key. A call that loses Gemini mid-flight ends with that message instead of retrying into the void.
- Phone callers hear "this assistant is temporarily unavailable" rather than a line that never picks up, and an employee asked to ring someone is told why it cannot.
- Admins get told the moment it happens, once a day: a banner on the dashboard until the reset, plus an email with a link straight to billing in Google AI Studio.
- Employees get the same plain explanation when a Gemini feature they rely on is refused, whether that is pictures, vision or transcription.
And when you save a Gemini key, a quick test now tells you what you have, shown right under the key: "Billing enabled", or a warning that calls, voice and other Gemini features will stop once the free daily quota is used. There is a "Test again" button.
Your employees can now run infrastructure
New skill, Enterprise edition only: Elestio. It is installed by default on every employee of an Enterprise instance, new ones immediately and existing ones through the skills update. Never on Community edition or the free tier.
It lets an employee deploy and manage services on your own Elestio account: 400+ open-source templates, databases and clusters, CI/CD pipelines, backups, domains, firewall, volumes and billing.
Given it spends real money, the guardrails matter more than the feature list. The employee asks its owner once for the email and API token, keeps them across restarts, and never repeats the token back. It asks before anything billed: a deploy, a new node, a bigger plan. Before each deploy it works through a checklist covering the right account and project, the template's minimum size, a provider and size you already use, no duplicate left behind by an interrupted deploy, and a dry run with costs first. It warns you that a stopped VM is still billed, and it offers to delete the test services it created rather than leaving them running.
If you have no Elestio account yet, it walks you through signing up, payment, approval and the API token in your own language, then checks the login and tells you what is wrong when it fails. Usually that is an email which is not the one owning the token.
Slash commands that match what the chat can do
Typing "/" in the chat now offers commands that actually exist: /new, /history, /settings, /files, /kanban, /mail, /memories, /call, /meeting, /websites, /tasks, /skills and /help. Each opens the same thing as its sidebar entry and respects the same rights, so someone an employee is shared with does not get /files. Pick from the list or type it in full. The /help sheet explains each one and opens it in a click. Keyboard navigation scrolls properly now, and the arrows stop at the last command when the list is filtered, where an Enter used to do nothing.
The commands that no longer worked are gone: /humanizer, /compact (the context gauge still offers to compact a long conversation) and /login.
Humanizer is fully removed. The old scheduled proactive messaging feature had been switched off for a while, but its remains were everywhere: a tab in the old edit pages, a settings sheet, a line in the license panel and the product tour, a config file written into every new employee's folder, and its routes. All of it is gone, and the leftover config files in existing folders are deleted at start.
Smaller things that remove daily friction
Memories: delete several at once. A "Select" button next to the count turns the list into checkboxes. Pick them individually or "Select all", which respects your search and type filters, then "Delete (n)" with a single confirmation. Works on mobile. Also, Enter now confirms a deletion instead of cancelling it, because the focus used to start on Cancel.
Calls: choose your microphone and speaker. Voice and video calls get an "Audio" button, before and during the call, with the same settings meetings have: microphone with its level, output with a test sound. Change it mid-call and it applies without hanging up. The choice is remembered in that browser and shared between calls and meetings. Output selection works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox; Safari and phones follow the system.
Meetings look right on small screens. Two people on a phone now share the whole screen, one above the other, instead of two small tiles stranded at the top. Three or four people on a computer sit on one row. Without a camera, your profile photo now shows whole, never cropped, over a blurred copy of itself.
Meetings: straight into the room. Once you have joined a meeting on a device, the Join screen is skipped when nothing is needed from you. Guests always see it, and so does anyone whose browser still needs that click to allow sound.
Mobile app. You can reply to a message straight from its notification, without opening the app. The app icon carries an unread badge. And an employee's "⋮" menu gains "Add to home screen", which puts an icon with that employee's photo on your phone, opening its chat in the right workspace.
Desktop app 1.0.59. The Mac build is now signed and notarized by Apple, so no more "Geta.Team.app is damaged" on opening. If you are on the unsigned 1.0.58, download it once more. Windows moves to 1.0.59 as well so both match; the code is identical to 1.0.58.
Also fixed
- Daily message limits counted the wrong person. Every chat message was charged to the employee's owner regardless of who wrote it, so an admin or a shared user chatting with someone's employee burned through that person's allowance. A chat message now counts for whoever wrote it. Messages with no author in the app (email, WhatsApp, scheduled tasks, delegations) still count for the owner, and a limit set on an employee still counts everybody.
- WhatsApp group mentions show names again. Tagging someone put an internal id in the text, which the employee copied back verbatim, so the group saw a long string of digits. Mentions now go out as real WhatsApp mentions and the group sees the person's name.
- A newly hired employee no longer claims two skills need updating. Nothing recorded that its adapted skills came from this version, so they looked stale on day one.
- iPhone: the employee list stopped jumping while you scrolled. Each row animated its own layout, measured mid-scroll, mistook the scroll for a move and animated it back.
- File editor: the search bar stays put. Ctrl+F then "next" used to push it out of sight. Long lines wrap now, too.
- Meetings: tapping an image in the chat keeps you in the call. It opens in a viewer over the meeting instead of a new tab.
