v4.0.8: Your Employee Always Picks Up Where You Left Off, Image Skills Work Behind Any Domain, and Every Export Imports

Some releases add something new. This one is about making what you already rely on hold up better: the conversations, the skills and the exports you use every day. v4.0.8 is a short maintenance release with four improvements, and the first one is the one you are most likely to notice.

Your employee always picks up the conversation where you left it

Your AI employees don't only work when the chat is open. They answer emails, reply on WhatsApp and Telegram, run scheduled tasks and take on work delegated by colleagues, often while you are somewhere else entirely.

Behind the scenes, an employee's workspace is paused when it has been idle for a while, and it can also restart after a change of AI account or an instance restart. Until now, if the next piece of work arrived through one of those background channels rather than the chat, the employee could start a fresh conversation instead of continuing the current one. Your earlier messages were still saved, but the chat could switch between the two conversations when you refreshed, and messages seemed to come and go.

From v4.0.8, every session the instance starts on its own continues the employee's current conversation, exactly as the chat does. That applies to Claude and Codex employees alike. An email at 3 a.m., a scheduled report, a WhatsApp message or a task from a colleague all land in the same conversation you were having. Only two things start a new one, and both are your choice: Clear Session and switching the employee's model.

For an AI employee, memory and continuity are the whole point. This makes sure that continuity holds whichever channel the work comes in on.

Idle workspaces now pause on schedule

The routine that pauses idle employee workspaces now runs at the interval you set in Settings, as it was always meant to. Before this fix, it only ran once, when the instance started. Your instance now frees up resources steadily throughout the day, which matters most if you run several employees on the same server.

Image and video skills work everywhere, including behind your own domain

If you had paired a browser with an employee and ran your instance on a custom domain or behind a proxy, image generation and talking-avatar videos could fail to connect. The image, avatar video, Facebook and Instagram skills now talk to your instance over its internal address, the same way browser automation already does. Your domain setup no longer makes any difference to them.

To get the fix on existing employees, open the employee and click Update the skills. New employees have it from day one.

Every employee gets a proper email address, and every export imports

On an instance with no email domain configured yet, new employees could end up with an unusable address, and exporting one of them produced an archive that wouldn't import anywhere else. Employees now always get an address on your instance's email domain, falling back to the instance's own host name when no email domain is set up.

Imports are more forgiving too. An archive with a broken address is now accepted: the address is rebuilt and updated throughout the employee's files. If an employee's folder name can't be used, you find out on the first import screen instead of at the very end. And renaming an employee to a single name, like "Nova" or "Max", now works.

In short

  • Background work (email, messaging, schedules, delegation) always continues your current conversation.
  • Idle workspaces pause on the schedule you set.
  • Image, avatar video, Facebook and Instagram skills work behind any domain or proxy; click "Update the skills" on existing employees.
  • Every employee gets a working email address, exports always import, and one-word names are fine.

Small releases like this are what make an AI employee feel like a colleague you can count on, not a tool you double-check.
