v4.0.0: Messages Puts Your Team and Your AI Employees in One Chat, and Employees Can Now See Your Screen

Until now your AI employees worked alongside your team, but your team had nowhere inside Geta.Team to talk to each other. Version 4.0.0 changes that. Messages is a full team chat built into every instance. Your AI employees join it the way a colleague would: they read the conversation, wait until someone asks for them, and then do the work.

Messages: One Chat for Your People and Your AI Employees

A new Messages entry in the sidebar opens a full team chat. You can talk one to one or in named groups, and everything arrives live: new messages, "is typing", read receipts and unread counts on every tab and device. It looks and feels like the chat you already use with your employees, on desktop and on phones.

All the things you would expect from a modern work chat are there:

  • Threads, like Slack, so side discussions don't bury the main conversation.
  • Reactions and stickers, plus your team's own custom emojis and stickers.
  • Formatting: bold, lists, quotes, links and code.
  • Voice messages of up to five minutes, with a written transcript underneath.
  • Files and photo galleries, with videos that play right in the conversation.
  • Several pinned messages per conversation, all listed in one place.
  • Scheduled messages: send tomorrow morning, Monday at 9, or any time you choose.
  • Search across your messages, file names and voice transcripts.
  • Forward, mark as unread, @everyone and a separate mute setting for each conversation.
  • One-click calls: the phone icon starts a meeting with the other person or the whole group.

There is also a little AI built in. Catch me up sums up what you missed in a few points: decisions, open questions and things to do. Translate works on any message. A sparkles button in the box where you type will correct, rephrase or shorten your draft before you send it.

You can also set a status with an emoji and a few words ("On vacation", "Focusing"), which shows wherever your name appears.

Mention an employee, and it gets to work

Type @Emma in any conversation and Emma receives the recent messages, including the files, and answers in the conversation. Ask it to "turn this into a proposal" and it replies with the document attached. While it works, the conversation shows "Emma is working...", and if you mention it inside a thread, it answers there.

Or add an employee to watch a conversation

This is the feature we are most excited about. Add an AI employee to a group or a direct conversation and it watches. It reads quietly and does nothing until someone mentions it. Then it has everything said since it was last asked, so "@Lindsay, make this a to-do list" turns twenty minutes of brainstorming into Kanban cards, without anyone pasting the discussion anywhere.

Everyone can see who is watching: the employee's picture appears with a small eye in the conversation header, and any member can remove it. Messages is part of the paid plans and isn't included in the Community Edition or the free tier.

In Meetings, Your Employees Can Now See

Ask "can you see my screen?" or "what is the figure at the top?" and the employee looks at your shared screen and answers. Ask it to "sum up everything I showed you" and it reviews the slides you went through and gives you the recap. Ask "what am I holding?" and it looks at your camera.

Privacy was part of the design from the start. Nothing is sent to the AI until someone asks. The employee only says what it can clearly see, and says so when it isn't sure. Screen captures are deleted when the meeting ends. While it is looking, its tile shows a small preview with "Sees Joseph", so everyone knows.

Meetings also get a Join screen, like Meet or Zoom. You can check your camera and microphone before going in, and the meeting admin chooses the meeting's language there, so the notes come out in the right one. Files shared in the meeting chat can now be used by an employee when you ask it to do something with them after the call.

A Calmer, More Personal Workspace

  • Organize the sidebar your way. The employee sidebar has been regrouped. Under Work, you can show, hide and reorder features, and your layout follows you to every employee and every device.
  • A profile menu that has everything about you. Your picture, Available or Do not disturb, your status, language and theme are all in one place.
  • The Team card shows exactly who is where: online, in a meeting, do not disturb or away, with a Message and a Call button next to each person.
  • Kanban cards open right in the chat. Click a card badge in an employee's chat to read, comment on, edit or move the card without leaving the conversation, and use the new chips to move it to another column in one click.
  • "A new version is out." When Geta.Team is updated, open tabs show a small bar with a Reload button, never during a meeting.
  • Your employee's own instructions are protected. Adding or removing a skill now leaves the rest of an employee's instructions exactly as you wrote them. The employee updates its skills list itself.

Plus a set of smaller improvements:

  • Calls stop ringing as soon as they are over.
  • Two people calling each other at once end up in the same call.
  • Sounds play once, in the right tab.
  • Notifications no longer cover the buttons that close panels.
  • Email DNS records are readable again in Settings.

Stronger Security, After an Independent Audit

Before this major release, we commissioned an independent security audit of Geta.Team. Every finding is fixed in 4.0.0, along with a few more we found while working on them. The changes include stricter checks on imported employees and on the files each user can open, safer handling of external connections and integrations, and a session cookie the page itself cannot read, which replaces tokens in web addresses.

One thing you will notice: after updating to 4.0.0, everyone signs in once more. It happens only once, and it makes sure no older session carries over.

Why This Matters

Most teams talk in one app, work in another and use AI in a third, then copy the context between them all day. With 4.0.0 the conversation and the work happen in the same place. Your colleagues talk in Messages, your AI employees read along, and when someone says "@Lindsay, handle it", the context is already there. That's what we mean by an AI employee rather than an AI tool: it's in the room when the decision is made.
